| Outward Appearance | A quiet man, Tom Redfern still carries himself with a hesitant awkwardness, as if some part of him did not want to forget the boy who swept the floor of the "Mad Badger" and sighed after the glover's daughter. It is no boy who peers from his deep green eyes, though, and with the poacher's skill he has learned to move through wood and marsh with silent grace, the better to avoid detection by man or beast. His brown hair falls to his shoulders and his raiment is worn and stained with woodland and fen. He wears no beard and carries a bow slung over one shoulder and a woodsman's axe hung at his belt. Distrustful of horses, he travels mainly on foot, which he has found to be more safe and silent, making for better observation of the world around him. |

Background
There were two major turnings in the road of Tom Redfern's life: the first being the night Archet burned, a tragedy that left him friendless and jobless and drove him into the wilds, and the second being a chance meeting with Wilbe Carver outside the hunting lodge in Bree. A man not much older than himself, it was Wilbe who told him of the Guild of Artisans in the outlying village of Arrowhaven and that they needed someone to look after their gathering place. It had been a long time since Tom had seen trust in anyone's eyes or heard the ring of honesty in a voice. He immediately agreed to the job. Indeed, having walked as silent eyes and ears through the streets and countryside, it felt good to have a place once again.
