Background
Niefel, the only son of Bonko and Nilla Broadbelt was born 36 years ago in the rich farmlands outside of Stock. Only son but not only child, he has a ten year younger sister, Niefas, who is the family pride and a bit of a bore to be honest. However it soon became clear that he was a bit different from his peers, not much, but enough for people to notice. For example he never did like farming, which is a very alarming sign in a young hobbit, and he seemed to prefer his own company, rather than socialize with his fellow hobbits. He spent more and more time by himself and would venture out on walkabouts along the shores of the Brandywine, or to the outskirts of the Old Forrest. These trips were not trips of exploration or, god forbid, adventure (he was never the adventureous kind). But rather journeys into himself as he often was lost in thoughts about what to make of his life. On these trips he allways brought uncle Wonkos old lute with him and eventually learned to play it fairly well.
The year Niefel struck 30, tragedy descended on the Broadbelt family. Instead of being a year spent celibrating his becoming of manhood, it was a year full of grief. Farming the Shire is probably like farming anywhere, full of hardships and talk about the weather, but this year the population of Stock got its fair share of horror. In early spring the farmlands were invaded by huge flies and it soon was discovered that they were poisonous. One evening after a hard days work, Bonko was attacked by what can only be described as a swarm of huge killer flies. To cut it short, he never made it home that evening, or ever again. What followed was weeks of war against the invaders, and in the end the brave hobbits of Stock came out victorious. Many were wounded but the only life lost were Bonkos and the mourning began. This ofcourse meant that Niefel was needed on the farm and his walkabouts came to an abrupt end. However, as time went by, and as Niefas more and more took over the responsibility for the family farm, Niefel started to leave home more often. He would, when opportunity arised, go with the deliverers of what the farms around Stock produced and came to see such far away, and exotic, places as Needlehole, Brockenboorings and eventually his favourite, Bree. In the year that followed he studied as an apprentice tinker and continued to play the old lute, learning songs of old, and when he got the news that his second cousins friends younger brother, who was a tinker, had moved to Bree and opened shop there, he got his mothers permission to start as an apprentice in said establishment.
Now he is making a living cooking delicious food and doing a bit jewellery on the side with Bree town as his base. He does not see his family often but he keeps in contact with his sister since much of his groceries comes from the family farm. He still plays his lute, and has on occassion been talked into coming along on a few adventures although he is scared to death every time.
