| Outward Appearance | Stout and strong with a tanned, weather-beaten face. His dark brown hair is partially braided and he wears a long, thick, full beard.
On his travels, and while crafting, he wears heavy leather clothing in dark earth tones - sometimes combined with a rich blue hood & cloak. When he goes into battle, he puts on his dwarf-made battle armour. Then a mighty two-handed longsword is his weapon of choice. Recently, he has also acquired the skill of using the shortbow - at least to bring enemies out of their shells. Furthermore, he meanwhile manages to stay in the saddle of his faithful pony 'Hornfels' to reach the battlefield faster. He is a honourable, serious-minded, proud and stern dwarf of Durin's Folk, the clan of the Longbeards. |

Background
Bolbrin Stoutheart, son of Tharin, of Durin's Folk from the Iron Hills.
He was born in the year 2910 of the Third Age in the dwarf kingdom of the Iron Hills.His ancestors, distant relatives of Grór, son of Dáin I, followed the young dwarf prince and future Lord of the Iron Hills east when he left the Ered Mithrin with his kin. Growing up in the Iron Hills, Bolbrin naturally learned a trade and became a miner. He left the Iron Hills when he reached battle-readiness at the age of 30 and travelled to the Ered Luin together with his younger cousin Tholbrin to visit his kinsmen in Thorin's Hall and to enhance his skills as a miner to become a prospector and eventually a metalsmith apprentice. Working as a simple miner at the Silver Deep Mine at Thorin's Gate he got involved in the venture of Gandalf, Thorin Oakenshield and Company, contributing to their successful and save departure to Erebor, fighting against the traitorous Dourhands, hardly a year after he arrived in the Ered Luin. It was the first time that his knack for fighting became obvious. In the following years he dedicated his life increasingly to combat training, practising his craft on the side. Eventually he got fully trained as a warrior and when the rumours of a growing shadow in the east spread across Eriador, he was sent out to investigate and report - later to fight and protect. Now respectable 109 years of age, after fighting Dourhands and Goblins in the Ered Luin initially, he was sent east to the Shire and further to the town of Bree, where he met Strider the Ranger and Gandalf the Wizard, who finally sent him out on an adventurous journey to protect the free people of Middle-Earth wherever his help was needed. In recognition of his merits and his valour the dwarves of Thorin's Hall bestowed the epithet 'Stoutheart' upon him. His father Tharin and his brother Thordin still live in the Iron Hills where Dáin II Ironfoot is King.
