Entry 15: The Distant Cold

What kind of Adventure is this?:
Story

I am not sure if my mind is making up things or if it is genuinely true.

I feel as if Dem is drifting father apart from me. Whether it is work or something else, I know not. I've pleaded with him to not work himself so hard. My efforts seem to be for naught. He has grown more and more distant with me I feel. How do I not appear demanding and pushy when I yearn to spend time with my husband like we used to? I wonder if he wishes to be wed with me still...

Helmwod shifted and opened his eyes, glancing down at the lithe, smaller figure nestled against his chest. He was a firm believer that people were meant to be if their bodies fit perfectly together as they slept. And so they did. Helaliath fit perfectly under his chin and fit perfectly in his arms.

She had never been a particularly brooding or isolated soul.

Words and smiles and politeness had flowed so effortlessly in her youth. She went where she was told to go. Spoke affably and easily to whoever she encountered. And smiled without having to muster any measure of will to curve her lips upward into a convincing expression.

“Hengstacer’s”, Grimbriar had said plainly after a long pause, watching for any sign of apprehension on Torry’s face. The junior Watcher stood at attention before the Chief Watcher, silently waiting for his next assignment, hoping it would be near a Thornley or Greenlake farm. Although the horse ranch Grimbriar had named was also out in the Bree-lands, it was nearly as far north of his birthplace as the town was south.

Poetry

I don't know what you've suffered

I don't know where you've been

I don't know if you can rise above her

But I know I'd give you love until you're quenched

I would never hurt you

I would never leave you scarred

What must I do to prove

That you are my dazzling stars

I love you, my darlings

I would do anything for you

I love you, my starlings

I will hide you behind me, my brood

Let me hide you under my wings

Unexpected as you were

You are my beloved

I am frightened and unsure

But you are my rising sun

I cannot wait to finally meet you

You are precious to me, cherished to me

I will always protect you, through and through

I will guide you and help you to see

Every second you are in my thoughts

Precious twins, my heart you consume

I will make mistakes, but I am not distraught

I will forever and always love you

This world is gorgeous, I will show you how
