Braigaer’s origins are older and more tragic than most in Middle-earth realize. She was born in Avallónë, the easternmost city of Tol Eressëa, in the days when the seas were straight and mortal Men could still gaze upon its shores. Her father was a master shipbuilder, and her mother a merchant of the seas. She practically grew up on the decks of the magnificent Telerin ships

Counted among the Teleri of Tol Eressëa, Númellótë spent much of her time aboard the great Cirya travelling between the port of Avallónë and the western anchorages of Beleriand during the first age, and until the fall of Númenor visited the island often. Now trapped on the middle earth side of the sea, she watches over the Elostirion stone and guides pilgrims between the towers and Imladris on their journey to Mithlond.
