Corruption... is it truely that evil, or is it just misunderstood? I was always told that corruption was an evil thing, but is it really that tainted, or is it just an energy that is misused by the people who gain it?
I sighed as I remembered Minyelaírë's alarmed expression, seeing her look at my black eyes... "Black as the darkest depths..." She said, holding her sword in such a way that I might examine my reflection. She told me of what she thought about the misunderstandings of corruption, and I repented slightly.
"Corruption is just another energy that flows through us all... It is only evil when one who possesses it uses it for nefarious purposes..." She said. Burdened, I felt myself weighted down by the fact that I was inflicted with a tiny part of Minyelaírë's corruption, but somehow I felt neutral about it. Shocked I peered as my eyes dullened and lightened to and fro, and I felt odd....
I heard a voice somewhere, and I sighed.
It is true, corruption is not always evil, but it dominates the mind... it makes one believe that they are greater... stronger... the mere thought of corruption can inflict hurt upon weak beings...
The true danger of corruption lies in the misconception of it. Is it something that taints the mind? Yes, that is what one may think, corruption being so closely associated with power. However, the mere thought of corruption can mar one's thoughts and confuse them, this is what makes it so dangerous... it is a neutral energy, and the thought that it is evil weighs down to the opinions of the thinkers... the true meaning of corruption will never be found out...
I looked at Minyelaírë again, studying her face to get any reaction from my colour-changing eyes, but she seemed neutral, and went up to check on Vardarianna, who was still unconscious. I followed her, looking at Vardarianna in a slightly worried way, before I realized...
"She has already been healed..." I said, looking at her, "All that you can do now is hope and hope that she awakens soon."
Minyelaírë remained silent, perhaps hoping that what I said was true, but I left her to rest slightly, my thoughts still dizzy and confused... dominated by thoughts of the poison, antidote, Radbug the Warg... who brought me the right herbs, and of course, the meaning of corruption.
"Look upon Radbug. He intended to kill me on our first meeting. He served the one in Mordor." She said slowly, "He lost none of his corruption and yet he helps thee to survive. Corruption sounds evil to thee, but is in the end merely another form of energy that flows through all of us."
She sighed briefly before continuing on, "Energies and powers, skills and talents are not inherited good or evil. It is how thou usest them."
I groaned, thinking of what could be the reactions of the Valar if they heard of this talk. Could Minyelaírë have a point? If so... then... what is the true meaning of Corruption?
The True meaning of Corruption will never be found out, even by the Valar. Only Eru Ilúvatar knows the true meaning of Corruption. And One will sense that if the true meaning of corruption is found out, it may be misused and misunderstood.
((OOC: Yay for things that actually leaves us wondering who we are! The thought struck me quite hard when I RPed this with Minye a couple of minutes ago... is corruption truely evil or is it something that is only misunderstood? I suppose no one will ever know... :P Also i'm sorry for the short text, I may lengthen it soon but for now I'm just too plain lazy to actually do something, lol))
