How do you attract a Prince? (Part 4)

Altor pressed his lips. He was uncharacteristically silent. Adiwen could not tell why he didn't answer; sometimes he was hard to read.

Today was one of those days. "Will you say something?"

"What do you wish me to say?"

"Am I ready? Are my skills impressive enough?" She asked, waiting not so patiently for his assessment.

He took his time to answer. "You can read and write well enough".

"Well enough to impress the Prince of Rohan?" She pressed on.

Altor's face reddened and his eyes flared. She was surprised to see the otherwise calm man so... Fired up. "How should I know? I am not the one who tries to ensnare a Prince!"

Adiwen was taken aback. She did not like to be taken by surprise and her mood was often prone to match his. "I would have expected that you would be able to tell after six months of tutoring!" She stood from her place by the fire. "I will not wait any longer, thank you for the help".

*Do not dally about any longer* her mother had said. *Approach the Prince*

Altor's face turned to stone. "I wish you luck on your endeavors, my lady". His voice was flat. He turned his eyes to the book in front of him and he did not look at her again.

She left with a heavier heart than she had had since the start of her tutoring.
