The letter is written in neat handwriting. Some of the full stops are smudged, as if the writer had paused to think and never removed the pen from the spot, messing the drying ink in the process. This seems to be the eighth of a series of letters to Rohan.
My dearest,
I am well aware that my last letter has not reached you yet. I had to write to you again though; I am not sure when my next chance to do so will be. We will be on the road within the next couple of days.
As I expected, Elladoraa is willing to accompany Maerstan and me on our trip. I am relieved that she joins us; not only because I have grown to trust her judgement on different matters but mostly because she needs it. The last weeks have been rough to her. I hope a change in scenery will help her heal after his death.
Perhaps, meeting new people will be beneficial for her. Two more will accompany us to our trip to Evendim, Aearrien and Thurintos. I believe that I have briefly mentioned Aearrien in one of my previous letters to you, my darling. The ranger caught me one evening overthinking my problems. She was very polite and as soon as she realised my predicament, she agreed to help us. Thurintos turned out to be as good as the recommendation implied. He knows the way to Evendim and he is a friendly face in the Shire and Oatbarton. I believe he will get us to our destination without much trouble.
I must admit to you that as soon as I closed our meeting with Thurintos, I felt lighter again. There were still a lot of preparations to be made, but I can deal with that and I have successfully done so. Still, I am not completely sure of what I encounter in Tinnudir... I told them all that we look for a person who resides there. That will have to suffice for now.
Hug our sons and forward my love to our daughter. Please, report to the court of my movements. I promise to write to you as much as I can.
