I had forgotten the beauty that was to be found on this road. The trees reaching up to the heavens, the sound of the birds, unmuffled by the hustle and bustle of the busy city.
Our journey so far has gone well. As well as her bringing a member of her household staff, the lady Adiwen has enlisted the assistance of two guides, who have easily seen off anything that may have caused us concern. They keep themselves to themselves though when we stop – they do not seem in the mood for conversation. Adiwen however has taken to fussing over me slightly. I think that must be because I am close to the age of her child. It frustrated me a little to begin with, however, now as we travel more together, I see there is no patronising or offence intended.
Our stop off points have been interesting to say the least. We have been welcomed into towns that previously I have been turned away from. Adiwen certainly has connections that I had not realised. That in itself has helped me to earn my keep along the journey, as I have been able to pick up a few courier jobs here and there for which I am grateful.
We are currently camping in the woods of Lothlorien, and it is possibly the most uncomfortable I have seen my companion. She seems to have a distrust of the elves, which I find amusing. . I remember visiting the elves with my mother when I was young. They are a most intriguing people with so much knowledge and light within them. I am drawn to their company and wanting to learn, however whenever I suggest we venture closer to the city I get ‘the look’ from her. So for now, we are camping by the edge of the woods, and I will take the opportunity to venture closer while she rests. In fact, as the light is dimming now, I can hear the sounds in the forest. I will take my leave from the fireside and go and explore.
