To Amathlan, formerly of Gondolin, From Ithilwe Lomelindion....
My friend, I spent many hours pondering our conversation with Hiril Seregrian regarding the subject of dreams. Though the lady is much versed in the subject, I think the two of us still find ourselves with more questions than answers. I sent word to a friend of mine who spends his days as a book keeper in Imladris. I inquired of his help for more information on dreams.
This friend sent me this book in return. This book, "Parf en Ol", may contain answers to your questions. I have spent the last day reading and rereading the content. I did not find what I was looking for and my mind still questions everything, but perhaps your will find what answers you seek.
Take your time in reading this book. I will eventually send it back to Imladris, but you do not need to hurry. I shall not worry over my dreams now. If answers are to be had, they will eventually present themselves.
I wish you luck in your findings, my friend. I have marked a couple of pages that I think might pertain to your own dreams. Perhaps Hiril Seregrian has already spoken of these findings, but I thought it would be good to read it from a second source as well. Though I could not find anything pertaining to the appearance of an object once one awakes.
Your friend,
Ithilwe

A page marked in the book reads:
"..... Rarely the valar deem it worthy to enter one's dreams. If they do deem it so, they must come with important tidings. These tiding may be good or bad, depending on what tone of voice is heard. If the vala speaks with a soft and gentle voice, it is a warning of something dire to come. If they use a more harsh tone, then they bring tidings of a good occurrence possibly in the future.
If they do not speak at all, then we are mostly unable to determine the meaning. But the vala are there for a reason. Many times the vala will use visions. These could be a warning to us, or even a gentle reminder of something. It is hard to find an answer to the meaning of visions given to us by the valar in dreams.
Whatever the case in our dreams, if the valar deem us worthy of their presence and guidance, we must listen and do our best to find an answer....."
A Second Page Marked in the book reads:
"If one is in the presence of the ocean in a dream, it is most likely to represent the state of one's emotions and inner most feelings. It could be indicative of tranquility and renewal, if the ocean is calm and slow.
On the other hand, if the ocean is in turmoil and crashes and rages, it is likely that it is showing the emotional turmoil in one's heart.
To travel across the ocean in one's dream provides a sense that one is navigating through an uncertainty in their life. If one is to swim or fall in the ocean, it represents that one is confronting a problem or struggle with uncertainty If one is laying on their bac in the water....."
