I came upon this eve to a pleasant surprise, for upon returning from the road did I spy a gathering in the Halls of Fire. A fair few new faces I saw, mostly kin and one dwarf. I met a woman who loved to play the lute, and indeed she did play for us a few beautiful songs. The dwarf also offered to play, though his strange pipes did grate on the ears! There was also a man who claimed to be working on a book regarding Gondolin, of which I am certain will be an interesting read for me, when I have the time.
There was also a man robed in red, who did not seem to get along with a local jeweler- at the jeweler’s expense. He was odd of temperament- some gathered called him a man of fire, which by his intensity did I deem fitting- though I have heard his wife is fairer of mood. From the brief moment I have known her, I cannot say I argue this statement.
Another man arrived later, who was apparently put-upon by one of the women there. I was in the midst of sharing a tale of one of my hunts, so I did not hear their hushed conversation. I only hope things improve between them. She seemed to want to make amends, though he did not seem equally willing.
All in all, it was a pleasant evening, one I hope to encounter again in the days to come. But the road ever calls me, and my duties need not be shirked.
