Seeing the emptiness of the Company's headquarters, Daphne's first thought had been that some prank had been played on them all. But judging from the faces of everyone else...it wasn't so. They had been robbed. Their home had been entirely emptied in their brief absence.
The thought brought a fire to Daphne which she hadn't felt in a long time. She felt as though she'd failed everyone by not having stopped it. Of course in the back of her mind she knew she was away, just as the rest of them had been when it happened. But she felt directly responsible. She was supposed to be the protector, after all!
The fire raged worse, filling her with fury once she saw how devastated everyone else was. Ana spoke not a word. Amaken looked depressed and worried. And Furley...obnoxiously cheerful Furley...had burst into tears. It was all she could do to contain herself. She wanted to find whoever did this and she wanted to...what did she want? To bloody them? To make them give it all back? She had no idea, but she did know she hated being so useless.
She suddenly felt throbbing pain in her hand, primarily the knuckles. She looked down and realized she had suddenly punched the stone fireplace. Brilliant on her part. Fortunately for her, everyone else had somehow disappeared and were outside.
She joined them, hiding where flaps of skin were hanging precariously off of her bloodied and bruised knuckles. The lot of them decided to search throughout Bree for information.
It was surprising how much Daphne had to remind Furley how he ought to behave with people. Daphne, of all people! Reminding Furley!? How the tables had turned.
If she hadn't been so furious with those who had attacked her home, and the morale of those she cared about...she'd have gloated so wonderfully.
