All Fancied Up

It was surprising that the rest of the Company didn't seem angry with Daphne, though she was the one who had earned them all two hundred push-ups from their aspiring drill sergeant.

She'd actually enjoyed their company in the Prancing Pony directly afterwards for a drink. Or...a few, really. Though all drinks after the first were to point to the fact she could, in fact, hold her drink. She wasn't sure where this notion she couldn't came from; she'd certainly prove it sorely wrong.

Though all except Elthhelm seemed in a hurry to rest. She didn't blame them. None of them had stretched after so many push-ups and the running they were given! Oh well. They would feel that. She would not.

She did enjoy speaking with Elthhelm, as his dog lay at her feet. Ceowulf was essentially a pup that was nearly as tall as she. Daph was mildly envious. Okay, maybe a little more than mildly. She'd always loved dogs.

As she stroked Ceo's fur, she constantly made fun of Elthhelm for his ridiculous feathered outfit. Oh, he took her fun and dished it right back just fine. In the end they made a deal. If Daphne could prove she could clean up all nice and fancy, he would take two of her duties. Of course she couldn't pass that up.

Directly after leaving the inn, she went to find Ma's old things she'd left to Daphne and Lily when she'd died. Lily and her had split them up, taking what they wished and going their separate ways.

Daph didn't figure she'd ever have a reason to use most of it, yet she now found herself going through the small chest. Ma had had some real nice pretties.

She took a long bath, working dust and dirt and so much else, out of her hair. She'd dried herself and brushed her hair for ages. Once she was dry she put on a dress. Yes, a dress! Then she'd taken a necklace her Ma had loved to wear and weaved it through her hair, making a sort of crown.

She smirked at her mirror.  She couldn't wait to see everyone's faces. She was sure Furley would be especially shocked, since he constantly poked at her for her clothing. Boy, would Elthhelm be shocked too. "This'll teach ya to make a bargain with Daphne Jewelweed and doubting her ability," she said to herself smugly. She had this.
