A few journal notes

Day 21 of Exile

The Prancing Pony in Bree is overbooked, overpriced and overcrowded!

Day 30 of Exile

I'm so delighted I found this gem called ”The Forsaken Inn”. Cheap ale, quaint locals and ample room for a dusty traveller. And to top it off, an amazing skylight! Being somewhat used to dozing off under the bare sky, I find this feature very soothing. Ale, the warmth from the fireplace and the stars to gaze upon as I drift into sleep... I shall stay here for a week... at least!

Day 39 of Exile

Must find a way to repay Refr Quicksilver!

The ”Lone” lands is not quite living up to it's name. Goblins, orcs and half-orcs are everywhere. This awoke some primordial dwarven instinct in me. I suddenly felt a strong urge to kill orcs. I can't kill Dourhands, and yes they are here too. So I decided to thin out the ranks of their allies to the best of my ability. Little did I expect this to earn me some measure of fame among the locals. I figured it was less than ideal in my situation. Oh, how wrong I was!

A dwarf trader, Refr Quicksilver apparently heard of my exploits and greeted me with open arms as I arrived at his trading outpost. Never before have I met such a generous and kind dwarf. Apparently I did him a great service of some sort, killing those orcs. It had something to do with trade routes, caravans and whatnot...things that are of little interest to me. After a few pints he was set on giving me a fine piece of armour. I tried to refuse, knowing I had but a glint of copper in my pocket. ”Payment, nonsense lad!” he bellowed with ale dripping down his beard. That was the end of the discussion. We parted as brothers, after a night of ale, tales and many songs.

So now I am the proud wearer of one mail with surcoat, accompanied by a sturdy chest plate. Also gifted to me was a fine steel shield and a heavy war hammer. I must find a way to repay him in a way that does not include silver. Must bring him something when I return.

Day 40 of Exile

By Mahal! I don't think I'll ever return to these parts!
