Barkrist keeps bees at his home in Wilderland. Or at least, he harvests their honey in return from protection from bears. This honey he uses to brew a golden nectar, the brew his fellow Northmen are overly fond of: Honeybeard Mead or Honeybeard Lager. Called thus because it leaves a strong essence of honey behind on bearded folk, and in case of the pale ale variant with hops from Dale, it also leaves behind white foam on hairless chins.
He ferments the mead and ale at his home, stored in cannisters and barrels he traded from the Elves of Mirkwood. His house is therefore surrounded by the scent of honey and it delights the nose of any passersby. He has had to fend off bears because of it, but it is said that he can simply talk them out of their hunger and curiosity.
Sometimes he offers the brew to a weary traveller, who is then renewed in vigour by this sweet warm drink.
