Some 100 miles south of Beorn's pasture, passed the Old Ford and not far from Woodman settlements at the eaves of Mirkwood, stands a solitary house of wood on the wide grass-lands of Wilderland. Here lives Barkrist, a tall man of Beorning and Woodman descent. It is here that he keeps his sheep and goats and churns his butter and bakes his bread. The scent of honey lingers in the air and beautiful flowers are sporadically spread across his land. This wooden abode is his true home, a place he built himself from wood he cut himself.
