Thrimidge 9 by Shire Reckoning - Happy 6th Birthday Rose !

At first glance Thrimidge 9 was just like any other ordinary day in the Shire, and yet as far as Yule was concerned this day was one of the greatest days in the history of the Four Farthings, the day Yule, born in exile and been raised by a human  ( a midwife many believed to be a witch ), returned to  the land of her father, a place called the Shire, and founded a small company of selected hobbits called Shire Rose. Usually hobbits parties always involve large celebrations lasting days or even weeks, and fireworks, abundant food and much rejoicing, but Yule was not a typical Shire hobbit.  Her pleasures were simple and almost never too showy or grand.  Yule enjoyed to go unnoticed and unseen, spending most of her time reading, writing, or studying the night sky. She believed there was much to be learned from the moon and stars.

'Keep going Salvia, the baby 's coming '. Salvia Brandybuck had heard this before, she already had two sons, and now an other baby was about to be born. Salvia groaned in frustration at the slow progress of the birth, but at least Yule was a reassuring presence.

' Just push now, woman ' Yule said calmly.

' I am pushing ' Salvia shouted in reply, then there was a sudden gush and a moment later a piercing cry filled the room. ' There you see, I told you I was pushing ' said a triumphant new mother , who although exhausted , was very happy to see her healthy baby  .

' You have a daughter, Salvia ' said Yule with a smile knowing how much Salvia had longed for a  girl after the two boys.

' Welcome to the world little Rose Brandybuck ' whispered Yule into the baby's hear before passing the little hobbit to her mother.

Yule had lost the count of how many hobbit babies she had welcomed into the world in the last six years. Six years had passed since she moved to the Shire and it felt to her like she had always been here. Her previous life in Staddle was a distant memory. Her life now was dedicated to her work, to her family, to her Roses. Yule did not have time for sadness, she was used to be alone, and yet this year, for the first time in forever, she was feeling like there was a space in her heart that needed to be filled some how.

Yule disliked feeling vulnerable so as per usual  she dismissed h thoughts about herself and left Salvia's house in the late afternoon. The sun was setting and the river was shimmering like a strip pf gold and diamonds against the green of the fields and deep violets and orange in the sky. Spring was late this year, the air was still fresh, but Yule welcomed the breeze on her face.

"Happy 6th Birthday, Shire Rose..." she whispered
