Belodin's Diary: War in the Blue Mountains.

221 Days untill Durin's Day.(D.U.D.D)

Not A day goes by with out missing you m'dear Brulda.

Open war, that is what it has been for the last few weeks. Although I was granted rest from Lord Dwalin, I refused to take it. After the battle of Alliance near Bree the goblins have grown restless. Dailey skirmishes now take place up in the mountains, although my people stand strong the Goblins seem to start taking more ground every day.

I have been relieved of my command of the Blue Guard, instead I have been given my own regiment, the Noble Guard A rather honorable title for the Old men that form it. Although it is in my nature to be grumpy, my regiment has surprised me. Our oldest member, Drunalli is 287 and is fighting more fierce then me.

My first orders were to reclaim an Woodcutting camp near the south of Gondamon, although the word regiment implies A impressive count, nothing is further from the truth. 7 is my new lucky number I presume, for that is I started out with and still travel with to day.

8 battles have passed since we were first formed, all of which victories, I have decided to name Drunalli my second in command, which some would consider a bit over eager for the small force we are, nevertheless I granted him the title and he seemed pleased with it.

We have been called to Gondamon, there is word of A larger host marching in the mountains, my companions and I have been eager to face A force that will boast more of A challenge then the small skirmishes we have faced. I find my self as eager as the others for A more decent fight.

In A moment of rest I had time to think, to think about all those I have encountered on my travels recently.

Whilst looking at my Numénorian star shining in my beard's jewelry, I smiled, a short feeling of comforts settles in my heart knowing that the North is as fiercely defended as the Blue Mountains. But A short strike of sadness also filled the heart, knowing that I might not see any of them again.

I formed up with two other regiments of Ered-Luin Soldiers, we were joined by A small party of Elves, the distaste amongst my troops high. Dwarven blood has been spilled to protect the Blue Mountains and no sure word has been given by the Elves to aid us in the struggle, no real armies are sent, just small parties such as these. Although not proud of it, I share this thought with my men.

After a short march we cought sight of our intended target, A small marching band of Orc Warriors, much more fierce then the Goblins my regiment has been slaughtering the last weeks, the battle was short but fierce, the Elves proving to be a great asset with their true arrows hitting their marks, although not wishing to be out done we charged the ranks of the enemy, in our eagerness to fight we got careless and overconfident. Drunalli took A fatal blow to the leg. Victorious but wounded I made the decision to return to Thorin's Halls and get some rest.

After arriving in the Hall's the true ugly face of war was shown, many of my kin lay wounded our dead of Frerin's court, I tried to heave word about what happened to them, but alas no words but rumor reached my ear until I went to Lord Dwalin.

It seems A full company of Dwarven Warriors was ambushed near the Vale of Thrain, I knew the enemy grew ever closer to our Halls, but an ambush so close to home frightens me. I have been informed that my regiment would be reinforced by another two, A small contribution but A dear one.

I am to return to Bree and search our Garram our new ambassador to the rangers, although it fills my heart with regret I must leave my regiment to its fate, I also feel joy that I might get A glimpse of my friends again, I left command to Bamdilun A veteran member of the Blue Guard before he joined my regiment. Now I must make haste and travel back to Bree, on Lord Dwalin's decree and learn if the Rangers know more of why the forces of evil seem to grow more aggressive.

P.S: Remind your self to Pick up some ever mind on your way back.
