Found:
Carved soapstone statuette. Someone clearly had issues with inadequacy.
2 silver spoons. Tarnished. Good condition, just need cleaning.
Fine ceramic tea set. Curious.
The haul from the barrows has been eclectic, but although I'm sure there's more to be found there, it's time to move on.
I was quietly interpreting some decoration on a monolith this afternoon when I was happened upon by a man who, as it turned out, had been sent looking for me. By my younger sister. Varani was only seven when I left home. Perhaps she was chosen to track me down simply because I have less reason to stab her in the face than I do for the others. Although, in a way I should be thanking Yanna, as much as I despise her.
My companion is curious as to what the girl wants with me. I don't care. I just want to get as far away from her as possible. I left them all behind fourteen years ago, for goodness sake! I walked away and never looked back. They weren't supposed to come looking. They were supposed to leave me alone, just as I had opted to leave them instead of burning them all in their beds. Ungrateful sods. They couldn't even give me distance or peace.
So distracted was I by all this unnecessary drama that when my companion suggested we go back to his house instead of simply moving on, I agreed. Anything to get us away from where she knew we were. I even agreed to let him sate his curiosity and go speak to the brat which unfortunately means that we're going to be stuck here for a few days. Clearly I was not thinking straight.
Even more worrying; I am almost certain that he asked me to move in with him and that I agreed to that as well. What am I doing? What on earth possessed me to go along with this instead of simply walking away in the night?
I should go. I should just wait until he's out of the house and leave without a word. My bag is already packed. It would be a kindness to us both.
