Harville Mayor Resignation Announcement

Harville Mayor Resignation Announcement

It is with deep regret that I have had to tender my resignation as Mayor of Harville.

The Bramblebury Gazette has printed my resignation letter in full thusly:

To my dear fellow neighbours in the Southfarthing:

As some of you are aware, I have returned to The Shire after what was an unexpectedly long time away. I was aware that my health was declining and that it was becoming harder to do simple Hobbity things. I'm not one to confide in others so much - so kept my growing problems to myself. Other personal matters further complicated the situation. I should have said something to one of my Kinfolk - but was too embarrassed.

It was in the middle of the night when I was in the worst pain that my Elf Guardians turned up at my former Harville home in The Shire. They took one look at me and without consultation it was decided it was time for me to return to Rivendell and the masterful magic and tonics of Master Elrond and other esteemed folks there. I guess I must have looked awfully bad for them to do that the way they did - but that's Elves for you. I had no idea how bad off I was but Master Elrond was very cross that I had kept my poor health to myself for so long. It appears I have quite a few things wrong that are independent of each other - but together they make my life a misery.

To that end, it is with regret that I have resigned my post as Mayor of Harville and vacated the former Mayor's Burrow at 4 Wending Way (well - it was foreclosed on, to be honest). Mayor Whitfoot, Leader of the Michel Delving & Southfarthing Council would like it to be known that he is accepting applications for the Mayor of Harville vacancy. Please be advised that the job no longer comes with the perks I was fortunate to enjoy until he decided there wasn't enough money in the town coffers for pie, cheese, ale and Old Toby.

Candidates must be residents or Harville, or willing to relocate there at their own expense. You must have the ability to work independently and to multi-task. As the remunerations are non-existent - you will have to stick with your day job and balance the needs of the community. Of particular importance is keeping the Gazette up-to-date with all the goings-on in the village. This includes updating the Residents' list every 6-8 weeks. You MUST be a friendly, outgoing sort who can look after residents and
visitors alike.

Mayor Whitfoot was most disappointed in me - so you must be honest with yourself about your ability to take on all of the the responsibilities that go with the job. It was not easy establishing and developing a new village, but I am proud that I was able to do some good in that regard.

I hope you will all accept my deepest, sincerest apologies for letting you down. Good luck to all who decide to apply.

Warm Regards,

Mollywobbles Puddingdale
