Black Basalt

The first song ever written by Dwalia, dedicated to Krakthor

Sable patterns on the pavements in our homesteads
Shiny dark lines go between limestone blocks
Whitish surface interlaced with magic stone threads
What a beauty lies within these dark rocks
Marble's classy; granite strong, durable
But my desire for this one is incurable

Black basalt is the stone that I love
Black basalt is what I'm dreaming of
Shining darker than the darkest night skies
Black basalt like your eyes

Stones are something you grow up with as a dwarrow
Every kind of rock you know inside out
Granite, sandstone and geodes with precious marrow
Slate is useful, that's beyond any doubt
But these columns, thin and strong, hexagonal
Structures without compare, make me irrational

Black basalt is the stone that I love
Black basalt is what I'm dreaming of
Shining darker than the darkest night skies
Black basalt like your eyes

Dwarven children love to run on these lines everywhere
That is why basalt lines are arranged in a square
What a nice snare

Black basalt is the stone that I love
Black basalt is what I'm dreaming of
Shining darker than the darkest night skies
Black basalt like your eyes

Black basalt is the stone that I love
Black basalt is what I'm dreaming of
Shining darker than the darkest night skies
Black basalt like your eyes

Like your eyes
Like your eyes
Like your eyes

((sung to "Black Velvet" by  Christopher Ward and David Tyson / Alannah Myles))
