Belegander shivered slightly in the cool dark mists as he silently made his way through the accursed land called the Barrow Downs. He tried his best not to look at the vague shapes that danced around him and the men behind him. He was relieved when they reached the barrow he had already had prepared for his guest. He turned to face the men. "Wake him up so you boys can have some fun with him," he demanded then the four dropped the dalish savage to the ground roughly.
The bigger of the two gave a quick jab to the boy’s ribs causing him to wake. “Welcome back with us, fool. Now don’t beat him too much I want him to suffer,” he told them and the four men began beating the savage once more however the grey boy seemed much more resilient than Belegander had planned and fought back. Nervously he backed away from the five men as the man, truly appearing like some wild animal approached him threatening that he’d be next.
Thankfully then men he hired were efficient and once again got the grey dog under control. Belegander smiled at the fool. “Is that really how you want to go?” he asked him but once more the savage simply threatened to kill him in some gruesome fashion earning a club from one of Belegander’s men. "I'd offer you once more to leave and never come back but I don't think you'd take it." he stated then nodded to the men.
The four men took the beaten dog and tossed him in one of the barrows, they clearly seemed to be enjoying themselves as they laughed while doing so. With a triumphant smile Belegander walked over to the edge of the barrow. "It really didn't have to be this way boy but you left me no choice. Now you will die," he told him smugly.
“I'll find you, no matter where you run. Little hairless bastard...” the grey savage threatened him and he simply laughed, the amusement to much for him to contain.
“Find me...but this place is going to be your tomb. The dead here don't exactly stay still and they hate nothing more than the living in their barrows...so you will die” he explained then grinned, ready to give his final blow. “But better yet she'll have no idea where you have gone. She'll think you are just like the others....bored and left her without so much as a good bye. It’ll chill her soul, freeze her heart and she'll come to hate you…then I can have my perfect little tool back, just where she belongs,” Belegander told him smugly.
The savage tried to gain his stance though it was clear the beating he took wore on him yet he had enough strength to continue to make threats which Belegander still found amusing. "You'll have to get out of here to do that but you won't....I'll give Rannie a kiss for you" he finished then with another nod to the four men, they closed off the barrow.
Belegander and the men, quickly left the Barrow Downs, not wishing to tempt their luck with the foul creatures that made that place their home. Relief and a shiver ran through him as they finally cleared the mist. He turned to the four men. “You did well boys,” he said, tossing each one a heavy coin purse. “I won’t forget this and I’m sure I’ll have more jobs for you down the road. Till then, remember to speak of this with no one unless you’d like to join that savage in the barrow, is that understood?” he demanded.
The men quickly mumbled in agreement and nodded but their eyes fixed on the coin purses. Belegander simply shook his head. Low born fools, he thought. Some people deserved to live in the muck and the mud of the alley, he thought as he made his way back to the village. Now all he had to do was wait for Rannie to break and he’d be ready to put her back together again in the way that best suited him.
