Grew up as something of a wildperson in his clan's forest holdings. Spent most of his time, hunting, trapping, and harvesting wood.  As he grew up, was expected to be a sales representative for the clan's holdings. These forests represent the largest stand of cedar timber in Middle Earth, necessary for the ships built in The Grey Havens to carry elves back to the Undying Lands.  The cedars are cultivated over hundreds of years by elven families dedicated to the task for generations.

Talarka is interested in extending the clans' business to rebuilding Arnor to it's former glory.  This idea came to him after seeing the Trestlebridge, and deciding that "wood" would be the answer until such structures could be properly rebuilt in stone by Dwarvish stonemasons. With the passing of the elves, Ered Luin is dealing with an oversupply of timber that Talarka is taking personal responsibility in solving.

He also works with Dwarf representatives in Thorin's Hall for the delivery of nails, tools, and other essential hardware to building sites.

Like his sister, Talarka is also concerned about the return of Angmar to the region. He feels it necessary for Angmar to be pushed back and then taken off the map, but leaves such details to the Order of Rosicalli.
