Cynhaer knelt surrounded by the armor clad easterlings, the fire of the fight still burning deep within his chest. Blood trickled down his armor and tattered clothing as he knelt, his breath labored and heavy. He gripped his blade tightly and swung to parry an incoming blow, knocking the man back with his blade shortly before a volly of arrows pelted the remaining few as he fell to the ground, wrestling the eastern man, staring into his eyes as he sunk his blade deep within his chest. He raised his head and looked the men who stood before him, smiling as he saw a friendly face.
"Let me guess my friend, you had the fight in your hand?"
Adunabel smiled and let the man a hand up, Cynhaer retrieve his blade and looked to the man.
"The haradrim, how many are there? The city, does she still stand?"
Adunabel nodded and gripped his friends shoulder tightly.
"Yes, we do not lose her this day. There are few of them left in the city, as we speak there are soldiers sweeping the city. Where is your wife, where is the child?"
The two stared at each other for a moment before Adunabel grabbed Cynhaer in a brothers embrace, though hearing a whisper shared between then.
"Cynraede rode out with his grandfather to Minas Tirith, Aeden died protecting him in our home. She killed four before I could get to them, between the fleeing peoples, the soldiers and the easterlings I could not get to her. I grabbed Cynraede and ran, she fell before I could get to her."
Adunabel gripped him tightly as he felt the sadness in his words, the loss of not only his mate, many friends and people he knew as well. They would pay, they took lives that were not theirs to take, there will be a day they shall reap what they have sewn.
"Watch over him Adunabel, my brother. Raise him as we were brought up, do not interfere with his life until he learns what blood runs in his veins. He has much to learn, and he must learn it alone. His path wil be one of darkness, and shadow. He must learn to seek the light even in the times where the darkness is strongest."
Adunabel whispered his oath as he hugged the one who had been as a brother to him, holding him close as he felt the life slip away from his body, laying him down on the ground and kneeling at his side, tears rolling from his face. He knew what he would have to do, though he never knew it would have begun the way that it, there was only one, who knew this Childs life.
"By my blood, my honor and my blade. I swear to you, my brother."
