True is that Daellas is always worried for something, but this time he really has reason to. The journey led to grim events. Two of their kin were lost, probably dead, and she and Arunel were alive by sheer luck.
Still, besides the actual bad events, and evident problems, there also was something underneath. The feeling of something that wasn't "right". Small yet odd details, shady behaviours. Daellas admitted to not have trusted Tidhelm. Clearly, the old man is a pain to bear, but not trust him? That's a bit too much.
Melowen puts down her empty tankard on the table and moves to the back of the Prancing Pony, to relieve herself. The Southener in the hallway is even more obnoxious than usual, but she has decided since to just ignore him, and shrug; this attitude seems to strick a nerve in the man, making him even angrier: along with the verbal taunts, he decides to poke Melowen as well. Bad idea, since it struck precisely one of the still not fully healed wounds she got; the pain makes her angry and her automatic reaction is to smack a fist hard onto the man's face.
The Southener is taken by surprise and staggers back... to trip on a stool and fall down, hitting his head on a barrel at his side. Melowen looks at the man knocked out cold at her feet and notices something poking out of one of his pockets. The curiosity is too strong, and she reaches down to pick it up. It's a letter, and she shamelessly reads it.
Bill,
Our alignment with Angmar is going as planned and soon we will have a strong enough force to strike at the town of Bree.
With the new force of soldiers that will come from the South, there will be a man of great importance. A rohirrim noble that has defeated the kin of the current tribe that is resettling in Bree-land.
Make sure that this man gets to their encampment without further trouble. Hustle up some of your boys and collect him in the South-guard ruins.
Signed:
S.
A chill runs down her spine while she gasps. It can't be... really, it can't be. Daellas... she needs to tell Daellas, and right now! Where is Daellas gone?
Melowen rushes out of the Pony as fast as she can.
