My first adventure..

It is a curious thing to have a desire to adventure, but never dare, you sit and wonder, what if and day dream about all the good things you may see and then of course, the dread of knowing the dangers that may lie hidden.I spoke with Amorey several times about my “bold” ideas of adventuring in the old forest beyond the Brandywine but in truth I was more fascinated with her stories for she has traveled much further than I.

Then one evening she came to my home, we always shared tea before retiring for sleep, she wore a serious expression. We spoke a short while and it was clear she had to travel for matters of importance concerning the Shire Rose. What was I to do, a chance now presents itself, to have an adventure but I was so unsure, I felt so unprepared, but I was not going to allow her to go alone.

We packed our things, Amorey gave me some helpful advice on what to bring, my back pack full of useful things, it felt odd finally wearing my sword knowing it may actually have to be used, that in itself filled me with unease, but if I am going to have an adventure, that is the cost.I walked around my home putting out the candles and ensuring the fires would die down properly, windows locked, everything now set straight. It was exciting yet unnerving to finally lock the door of my home.

It was late evening, Amorey was ready and waiting leading Freo her pony and Scrumpy my valiant steed! We nodded and smiled and then walked out past the homes quietly making little noise till we were beyond the village. Saddling up we headed Eastward, we said little just riding side by side, I watched the moon and the stars occasionally glancing at Amorey who was clearly thoughtful and thinking of her task. I was hoping so much not to be burden, I would will be a brave hobbit lad and do my duty as a bounder even beyond the Shire.

It was a real eye opener to pass over the Brandywine in the moonlight, even the bridge warden was sleeping under his lantern, the stars like a million sparkles the ripples of water making a restful sound. Before I knew it, we were in the Bree-lands Amorey knew her way, leading with certainty I was proud to know her and be with her, this journey will be a long one. I kept glancing around occasionally resting my palm on the hilt of my sword as some kind of reassurance, but this night was still and peaceful.
