Hookworth Village, 10th April, 3018 TA.
Ancardil had arrived in the village of Hookworth by the evening. He had been riding for many days since his departure from Rivendell. His steed was weary, but he was not. At the gates he was stopped by two guards, who asked him about his business. Whilst explaining this, he noted that the gates were in fact a Dúnedain structure. Interested he was in architecture and he had not seen these lands since his years spent in Eregion.
'So, what is your business in the village? These are odd times and we cannot simply let anyone pass. Not even an Elf...' Said one of the guard in Westron.
Ancardil had not conversed in this tongue in many years, used to speaking Quenya or Sindarin he was.
'Alas, a long tale it is. Yet worry not, for I am unarmed and no threat to even a plant I am. To your Master I wish to go, if you might allow me passage and direction'.
The Elf's voice seemed mezmirizing to the guard. He nodded swiftly without saying another word, merely pointing towards the greatest house in the town. Onwards he rode slowly through the winding road that passed many houses made of wood, stone and thatch. The road then became higher up a path that eventually reached to the large house. Its gardens were scattered with more Dúnedain ruins that Ancardil observed for sometime. Then to a bench he turned, which reminded him of those from Lórien. He sat there for a while, looking at the stars over head. Infront of him now stood a Man standing proud and wise, well dressed and armed with fine weapons. The Elf knew immediately who this was: []Arangilas]] Bloodrage.
After a short greeting, they were joined by a halfling. Ancardil was aware of their existence but had never looked upon once before. Adla was her name and she was a member of the Knights, due to be promoted on that very day. Then another arrived, a woman named Baridi, who was a high ranking member of the Order. After greeting them both, Arangilas bid them all to go inside.
Within the Kin hall they went 'The Shelter' it was called by the Knights. Firstly there was a small entrance room which led into a great hall filled with bookcases, maps, hearths and fine foods laid upon a table. Normally Ancardil would not choose to stay inside for long, as he often yearned to be among the trees. Over they all went to the table and a drink was given to them all. Wines, ale and other various liquids were avaliable, yet only water did Ancardil wish. There they were joined by Lilasha, another Hobbit.
With the Grandmaster Arangilas did he converse with, telling him of his dream and his journey from Lórien. This he explained by song:
Across the mountain peak, into the west I seek.
Over the snowy pass, forth to the halfling’s grass.
Through the forest I creep, where no evil sleeps.
Paddling in the river flow, towards the ships where my people go.
Along the road that be dry, where all life seems so shy.
Into the trees of slow birth, where lies Hookworth.
My home now is far, whence came the dreams of Eldonaar.
Seldom have I walked here for an Age, here before you I stand, Arangilas Bloodrage.
After he finished, Arangilas bidded him to join the Knights of Eriador as the keeper of their librarian. Gladly did Ancardil accept, as he felt now that he could put his skills to use once more. Little work had been done in his Lórien collection for three thousand years, so a relief it was to finally feel useful. After his oath was completed, Ancardil spoke briefly with the Dwarf, Iarfig. Seldom had he spoke with a Dwarrow since he lived Eregion, and the last time he looked upon one was during the Last Alliance. He was surprised at Iarfig's courtesy, as he knew that there was much strife between there people. He then felt tired and took leave from the group.
After a joyful song from Lilasha, who was the Order's 'minstrel', the Grandmaster Arangilas departed for the night. Soon after Adla and Lilasha also left to get some rest, followed by Baridi.
He had arrived in Hookworth as per the dream said. Purpose was restored to him and tomorrow he would start work at the library known as the 'Hookworth Historical House'.
