Official Report to the Mithdirith

To Hirgonui and his Lords,

It was within the last week of our stay in the Vale of Imladris, that Lord Istuir took me into the Misty Mountains in order to initiate the last part of my training.
After a day of travel we had reached the northern outskirts. Upon the plains, Lord Istuir asked me to find a great beast, a wolf, and to return with its hide. As I found my target, I met the entire pack slain. The wounds the animals had were inflicted not, as one might have assumed, by arrows, but by a blade-weapon. Their bodies had been brutally taken apart by wide slashes as no Elf or Man could have performed them.
During the time I examined the corpses, I had sensed a presence about me. Thinking it to be my Lord Istuir who had quietly followed me, I was unprepared by a sudden assailant. In combat and strength I was underlying.
As I realized that alone I could not overcome this danger, I blew the horn that Lord Istuir had given to me. A few moments later the Lord arrived and drove the foe off. We did not find any blood of the creature nor any clue of what it truly had been, for the snow-storm denied us any of such collection of evidence.

Following the events, Lord Istuir decided to remain one night within a dwarven keep. The next day we returned to Imladris.
