When Tahitoa received a letter addressed to him from the Thain of Maur Tulhau he knew something was not right. He sat all morning under a Shire oak tree in the gardens of Shire Rose's hall with the letter beside him. Tahitoa did not like to see Amorey sad, he knew she was a strong hobbit, she was trying very hard not to show what was going on in her heart , but Tahitoa knew her well and he knew how much hurt there was still there. Tahitoa was there the night Amorey had fallen apart again a few days after the musical - for hours he sat beside her, holding her hand and wiping away the many tears. Oh Tahitoa was mad that night, mad at the hobbit that had done this to her, he would punched the hobbit in the face if they were to meet.
Days became weeks, Amorey was very quiet, the tears had stopped and were replaced by a calm determination. Tahitoa was keeping a watchful eye on her as she slowly was settling back into Shire life. He had seen how keen she was on a very few special hobbits and even one dwarf she was often talking about, a jolly fellow with a flaming red beard and smiling eyes. Tahitoa always liked dwarves, over the years he learned to respect their wisdom and culture , and he was very proud to have been chosen to play the role of the great Thorin Oakenshield in the musical performance.
As he was sitting under the Shire oaken tree, Amorey walked slowly towards him with a small smile and sat beside him looking at the letter. Tahitoa smiled back and handed over the envelope to her asking her quietly to read them words for him. Amorey's voice sounded like a whisper . A few time she had to stop, a tear did rolled down her cheek as she gave Tahitoa the news that his father Maël Tuk had died after a short illness. Tahitoa had lost the only family he had left in the world, now his home was really in the Shire, where the only other person that meant something to him, Amorey, lived. Gerebaldo took Tahi out drinking that night. The two hobbits spent the night at The Ivy Bush drinking heavily and did not come home till the following morning having completely forgotten what happened the night before. Gerebaldo always liked Tahitoa , and in the drunken haze of the night decided he would treat Tahi as his own son, the son he never had.
When the hangover passed , Tahitoa had a father, a mother , two sisters and a few hundreds cousins and other relations in the Shire. His own family ! Tahitoa was very proud to be able to call Amorey 'sister' and promised to himself to protect her and shield her as much as he could from harm. Tahitoa knew the following weeks would be hard on her , exactly a year had passed since the birth of her son. There were days when she was sad and in tears and he was there to listen to her and try to take away some of the pain. Tahitoa knew it was time for her to rebuild her life somehow, and Tahitoa promised himself he would be there to help his sister doing that.
