Background

It was in the early beginning of the Second age, when Maireldo and his wife Alyamil crossed the grey mountains and entered the woods of Mirkwood, back then still called Greenwood the great.

The two elves looked like they had a rough journey as they wore torn clothes and seemed underfed. But it did not take long for the Nandorian elves, the elves ro lived in that forest, to find them and they took them in as their own and nursed them back to health.
No one knew who they are or where they came from, or what drived them to take such a perilous journey over the mountains. Never did either of the two speak a word of their past or the reason for their journey..

Maireldo and Alyamil remained with the woodelves after they were nursed back to health, and they had a good life. Maireldo became a carpenter and became known for his woodcrafts of toys for the elven youth and other decorations. Though both Maireldo and Alyamil both frowned on any kind of violence and wanted nothing to do with it.

But then when the day came when a shadow was cast over Greenwood the great and the woods became infested with dark and corrupted creatures and from then the woods of Mirkwood were no longer safe...

It was at one terrible night when Maireldo and his friend pengyl wandered through the darkness of Mirkwood in search for timber. But they found a hoard of hungry spiders, larger then they were, but when the spiders attacked, the surprise was for them as Maireldo swung his axe and fought valiantly and with terrible force and soon the spiders ran back further into the woods before they were all slain...

It was then when rumours of his skill was whispered throughout the woods of Mirkwood and the woodelves then joined Maireldo at each time he decided to go back into the woods and with each visit Maireldo's reputation as a fighter became known.

Soon Maireldo had a small company under his command and proved to be stern but respected leader, though he was stern he treated each one of his company as family. They always traveled in the darkness and unseen to their enemy and often did the moon shone on their path if they ever came into the light. It was then when his company named themselves of his house, Nost en Ithil, the house of the moon.

For a long time the House of the moon wandered through Mirkwood in its defence till the lord of the woodland Realms, Oropher, send word for them and requested them to join him to fight this evil for good and so they did. Maireldo and his house joined the armies of the free people on Dagorlad and there the house of the moon and many others stood against a massive force of Orcs that poured through the black gates to meet them in battle. Although the alliance had been marching for several weeks, Nost en ithil and the alliance of the free people were ready to face them.

It was a long a dreadful battle and they all fought valiantly, but when the battle was over and their foe was defeated, they have bought that victory with great losses of the elves of Mirkwood and of the house of Maireldo.

They returned home, back to Mirkwood and the remainder of his house he send away to live their lives but they joined him at each night he went out into the woods of Mirkwood.

Then at one dreadful night, Maireldo and his company of his house where ambushed as they traveled the woods by ferocious orcs, bearing white marks. Maireldo and the last of his company didnt survive.

When the children of Maireldo, Baraveathor (Also known as Orchellon) and Ithilchen, heard of their father's fate they picked up their weapons and ventured into the woods as they were now the new leaders and also the only members of a dead house...

Now Nost en Ithil is an order, a family. They guard the borders of their homes and defend the ones they love from evil.

Nost en Ithil OOC information:

Nost en Ithil is a friendly Roleplay community who's goal is to enjoy the game together and to roleplay as much as they can! We are a very friendly bunch of people and rather silly at times.

We encourage roleplay and character development.
How?
Well, with roleplay of course! What we try to do is to schedule several events so everyone can enjoy it and we also encourage our members to host their own rp events and forum RP to make things fun and interesting.

- Is Nost en Ithil heavy on lore?
Nost en Ithil is rather heavy on the lore but not to an extend that it ruins your gameplay.

- Does Nost en Ithil organize a lot of Roleplay?
We do intent to schedule a lot of roleplay through the weeks and often promote events from other players, like the Hall of Fire or even Raun 'ni Belegar (pilgrimage to the sea) and many other s so our members will get the oppertunity to to RP as much as they want to and experience other kinds of roleplay other then the ones organized by the kin

- If I am new to roleplay, will I be able to join with this kinship?
Yes, you can in fact! Since we try to maintain a friendly community and those who are interested in roleplaying are free to join and learn from our more experienced roleplayer. We offer many guides, from the guide on how to roleplay to how to roleplay an elf. Even if you do not know much of elven lore then that is fine, for that we have tons of info on our kinsite or we share links where to learn the basics.
So do not be afraid! We do not bite....well...unless you are an nasty orc....we don't like orcs....

If it did not answer all of your questions about our kinship, here we shall try to answer them for you:

Q, Is Nost en ithil a heavy Roleplay Kinship?

A, In a general sense yes, we handle, medium to heavy since we know that most of our members also enjoy the quests, skirmishing, instances and endgame.

Q, If you are new to roleplay? Can you still join Nost en Ithil?

A, Of course! We do not shut out people if they do not know much roleplay. We do like to help people understand roleplay better and we offer a lot of guides and we help each other all around!

Q, So, is Nost en Ithil a friendly/social kinship then?

A, we'd like to be! Of course we know that not all members can be friends with one another and not everyone likes the way we handle things, but we do try to create an inviroment that fits basically everybody.

Q, What are the recruitment policies of Nost en ithil?

A, ((See requirements above))

Since our kin is based on elves, all elves, we do want our members to know the basic of elven lore, the best would be ofcourse know the silmarillion. Though it is not at a top requirement for joining, as with our previous answer, we are willing to help all members know more about elven lore.

Q, If you have to explain Nost en Ithil to someone, how would you explain it?

A, Nost en ithil is what it says in sindarin tongue: House of the moon. It is an orderly house with the wish to unite all elves and preserve the goodness and beauty of their world. Nost en Ithil is at first a safe haven for those who wish it and its members are considered family. Not by blood but in spirit.

Q, So, someone joined Nost en Ithil, whats next?

A, Well, we normally Roleplay someone into our house, so the character knows what they are getting into. After that, a member will be ranked recruit for 30 days (a month) within that month the member can request for the ceremony of fealty and will take the oath to become a "full member" of our house.

Q, So how does one get promoted in the kinship?

A, We work with Promotion points, we have several IC ranks, which you can read with this link http://nost-en-ithil.guildlaunch.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=8508821&gid=251467.

All our members will be will get a ceremony on their promotion, they will often be accompanied by their superior or higher division member.

Q, How often do you roleplay?

A, We have scheduled events 2-3 times a week and we also do instant events that our members can call for over the Kinchat. Next to that we try to encourage character development, letting our members host events and let their characters develop in different ways.

Q, What is your policy on alt characters?

A, We do not prefer to play underplayed alts. However, once recruits are allowed to bring their elf alts into the kin without need of an application. Alt members will almost immediately receive member status

Q, Is the kinchannel IC or OOC?

A, The Kinchannel is OOC (Out Of Character), we only consider the Say channel to be IC (In Character) Since that would be the only channel someone would be able to directly talk to someone.
