Birger was born to Valdr and Skalda in 2712TA, 58 years before the sacking of Erebor.

When Birger was a younger dwarf, he was a stout warrior hailing from Erebor. His father came from a long line of craftsmen and tinkers and would rather see Birger follow in his footsteps. But he was proud of his son either ways.

When the Dragon came, Birger barely made it out alive. Dodging Dragon fire, he found his way out of the Mountain to find his father and mother unharmed.

Birger roamed the wilds with the Dwarves of Erebor and lived in the Hills of Dunland before fighting in the battle of Azanulbizar at the age of 86. He survived the slaughter but it would be his last grand scale battle. Only minor Skirmishes with small bands of brigands and Goblins would follow later in his life.

After Azanulbizar, Birger took whatever work he could, labouring in the villages of Men, as did many of his kin. In 2939TA, at the age of 227, just before Thorin II Oakenshield departed on the quest for Erebor, Birger found his way to Thorin's Halls in the Blue Mountains of Ered-Luin to work as a blacksmith for five years, before finally returning home to Erebor again.  

Now, in 3018TA, at the age of 306, Birger can be found west of the misty mountains again, mourning the passing of his father in the Blue Mountains and spending some time in the lands he knew long ago. Birger works as a tinker and toy maker. Soon he will be returning to live the last years of his life in Erebor in peace. Or so he hopes...
