CHRONICLE OF THE OAKENBRAIDS FAMILY LINE
In the year 2514 of the Third Age, Thorlad Oakenbraids was born in the Halls of Ered Mithrin. As one of the stonemasons of his kin, Thorlad followed Thrór to Erebor after Colddrakes attacked the Halls of Ered Mithrin in TA 2589 and thereby killing king Dáin the first of his name. Thorlad helped during the resettlement of Erebor and died at the respectable age of 184 in TA 2698.
In the year 2601 of the Third Age, Glólin Oakenbraids was born in the Halls of Erebor as the son of Thorlad Oakenbraids. Glólin was the first of the Oakenbraids to be born after the resettlement in TA 2590. Glólin was the first of the Oakenbraids to take up the finer stonemasonry of filigrainwork. Much of his work can still be seen in the halls of Erebor this day. Glólin died at the young age of 148 in TA 2749 caused by a fall from great heights.
In the year 2678 of the Third Age, Burinur Oakenbraids was born in the Halls of Erebor as the son of Glólin Oakenbraids. In TA 2740 Burinur met his wife Jensia of clan Ravenbraid. Both of them excelled in the design and creation of jewelry known for its finer filigrain work around the edges. In the year 2769 of the Third Age Jensia died at the young age of 68 while giving birth to a son. In the year 2770 of the Third Age Smaug occupied the Halls of Erebor and Burinur narrowly escaped with his infant son. Despite these sad tidings Burinur found alot of happiness in raising his newborn son and teaching him the fine arts of Jewelcrafting. Burinur died at the respectable age of 185 in TA 2863.
In the year 2769 of the Third Age, Magrûn Oakenbraids, first of his name, was born in the Halls of Erebor as the son of Burinur Oakenbraids and Jensia Ravenbraid. After their narrow escape Magrûn and his father took refuge in the Iron Hills. Magrûn was tought the fine arts of filigrain work by his father which he later put to use in Stonemasonry and Jewelcrafting. In the year 2849 of the Third Age Magrûn met his wife Kamma of clan Steelfist with whom he raised two daughters and a son. In the year 2799 of the Third Age Magrûn participated in the Battle of Azanulbizar. He did not, however, participate during the battles in the cavernous tunnels that led to it. Magrûn died at the respectable age of 172 in TA 2941. His wife Kamma died at the high age of 201 in TA 3004.
In the year 2859 of the Third Age, Magrûn II Oakenbraids, second of his name, was born in the Halls of the Iron Hills as the son of Magrûn Oakenbraids and Kamma Steelfist. Magrûn II was the first of his kin not to put the fine arts of filigrain to use in either stonemasonry or jewelcrafting but became a weaponsmith instead. In the year 2941, shortly before following Dáin II Ironfoot into battle at the gates of Erebor, he met his wife Baraz of clan Ironhands. In the year 2943 of the Third Age Magrûn II and Baraz returned to the Halls of Erebor where they raised four daughters and a son.
In the year 2944 of the Third Age, Khimir Oakenbraids was born in the Halls of Erebor. He was the first Oakenbraids to be born in the Halls of Erebor after the second resettlement of its Halls. Despite all the Oakenbraids having dark brown eyes, two of Khimir's older sisters had blue eyes. When Khimir's eyes saw it's first light of days, his father Magrûn shouted: "Madarzân Khimir!" ("They are Brown!"). Khimir's chronicle has just begun.
