The stranger before you is tall, slender and appears to be in his late forties or early fifties. His hair is a thick, tangled mop of peppered grey. The man's face is worn and his expression proud but gruff. His Belegaer blue eyes have the haunted stare one could only have from witnessing first-hand, a great tragedy.

The man's hands are soot stained and calloused. His fingers are long and thin with nails chewed to bits. As he casually caresses the pommel of a dagger you may notice that half of the ring finger on his left hand is missing. One of the few items of note on his person other than his two daggers is the iron buckle fastened around his waist. The buckle is emblazoned with a modified version of Gondor's royal standard with two crossed daggers overlapping the White Tree.

When seen in conversation with others, an observer may notice how Duramarth politely nods, moving through all the normal motions of social etiquette, albeit forced. You may at times even catch a glimpse of him smiling or laughing. However, a deeper look into his hard gaze would reveal a brooding melancholy.

Background

Duramarth is known to be a Man of Gondor. His name in Sindarin literally means a Dark Fate. Duramarth has no great love of this name and has been known to exhibit a deep sadness when pressed about the meaning behind it. Those in Eriador who know of him know him simply as The Prospector. Some say The Prospector was born in Dol Amroth and unsuccessfully tried to make his fortune in illicit activities while in the city of Minas Tirith so he fled to Bree. Others say the Man of Gondor is just a harmless old Armsman trying to make ends meet. Perhaps you could approach him and find out?

Duramarth currently resides in the neighborhood of Arrowhaven in Bree and has been seen in the area for the last two summers. Most recently however, he has been seen staying long nights and sometimes days at a time in the Scholar's Hall.

Other places in Bree that you can find Duramarth is either at the forge near the south end of town or in The Prancing Pony. If he's at the tavern he's probably having an ale, plotting coordinates to his prospecting locations on his well-worn maps or playing the lute.
