Mercer was born with light blonde hair but as he's grown up it's slowly become more of a silvery ashen colour, which his grandmother on his mothers side had. He comes from a family of Dalish merchant he was raised in Dale by his father Iver and his mother Eira. Both were loving parents and only had Mercer as they were having trouble with fertility. When Mercer was the age of twelve they knew that their son could do more than be a merchant. So they sent him away with a traveling teacher, they wanted what was best for their son and for him to see the world, it was what was best for Mercer.

As the years passed Mercer became more and more skilled training with his Mentor, when he did something wrong his Mentor would punish him by making him lift heavy things and cleaning weapons. Though his mentor never gave up on him he always pushed him further sometimes to the point where Mercer would get angry and lash out at his mentor but that anger was soon ironed out. He was trained in Swordsmanship, Archery and Hand-to-hand combat. 

When Mercer was at the age of sixteen Mercer's mentor dealt with unfinished business causing him to become a criminal Mercer knew this is how his mentor wished to go so he had to honor that wish and honor the bounty, treat it as if he was just another criminal, just an other bounty. So he killed his mentor turning his body in for the reward, that was his final test and he had passed.

He was now a fully trained bounty hunter.

After that Mercer traveled the lands of middle-earth collecting bounty's and honing his skills. He also learned to live by a code:

"I shall take no wife, nor love any woman.

I shall father no children.

I shall live and die by my sword.

I pledge my life and honor to this responsibility.

It shall not end until my death."
