Background
According to what Laliniel has told people, she used to be a person of outgoing cheerfulness, and apparently had shorter hair. She was, in general, a much happier person, but her sister's influence and years of studying changed her perspective of life. She has openly spoken about a lack of will to live, but this is not her common range of thinking. Laliniel only spoke suicidally because of Kalesiar's reaction to Garnold asking Laliniel to marry him, and after he asked for Kalesiar's blessing. This was after the fact that Garnold and another man, Guilad, left the room, which was The Hall of Fire.
As mentioned above, Garnold Kawn asked Laliniel to marry him, though it took a long time for her to answer this request, but she ended up refusing, saying that it would hurt her apprenticeship as a lore master to Kalesiar.
