Outward Appearance

Lithrandir's hair appears black at times, but shines a deep umber in the light. His eyes are light blue, always scanning his surroundings. His usual attire is suited to blending in with dirt and foliage, and will often be coated in a thin layer of wood dust due to a peculiar woodcraft hobby that tends to overtake his focus.

He appears to be a very anxious elf, almost constantly on alert, regardless of the situation. He tends to jump at shadows and work himself into a state of deep unrest over very little. This leads to very awkward social encounters, but it is a burden he is content to bear. Perhaps the most scathing of these encounters led to him being unable (or unwilling) to correct a dwarf who misheard his name as Kithrandir; somehow, this unfortunate error continues to haunt him, as said dwarf is a far more social soul than he. It is very likely that, if one has heard of him, this is the name one will know him by.

There is a certain stress to receiving letters addressed to him thusly, as there is no 'k' in the languages of the elves.  Nevertheless, he bears the blemish bravely.

Background

Lithrandir was born in T.A. 1303 in Mirkwood.  He has spent much of his life in service to the elvenking Thranduil, acting as advisor and eyes to the world beyond the woodland realm. This is due (in uncertain measurements) to Lithrandir's absolute, unwavering loyalty and notable agility and stealth. There is not a thing he would not do if his king asked, nor a place he would not go. He is skilled in combat with a bow and decent enough with a dagger, but he will often disengage from fighting and seek escape instead, should the situation allow for it.

Perhaps the most peculiar thing about him, after all, is a habit of suddenly ceasing whatever it is he is doing, whether it be conversation or otherwise, and beginning to carve into wood. The only way to guarantee that he will not do such a thing is to ensure that he does not have wood or tools in his pack to work with. The act of crafting grants him focus and calm, and is an invaluable asset of survival in the lands of men, as far as he sees it.
