Background
Fields Near Marton
Talvor was born into a peaceful existence, on a farm in the Westfold near Marton, where the only worries he had were whether or not his chores were done. His Father, Feodryð, was a retired Rider of the Riddermark who taught him to use the sword, shield, spear, and bow. He grew up learning the farming trade, but was often taught the art of metalwork by the local smith. His education was quite substantial, at least to those of the Mark, having an understanding of both letters of the common-tongue and the runes of his own people, which were taught to him by his Mother who had lived in the North-West for a time before meeting and marrying Talvor's Father. She also spent time teaching him music, and how to write poetic verses, and while he was still young made for him a harp of his own which he still carries with him.
Talvor was the eldest son in the family, with a Sister, Brenna, who had seen seven winters less than he, and a Brother, Aldfryð, who had seen nine winters less. They had been your average run-of-the-mill (or perhaps run-of-the-farm in this instance) siblings, both playing, and working together. At the age of nine or ten, however, Talvor and his family were riding through the Gap of Rohan in a caravan when it was raided by a fierce group of enraged Wildmen. In the turmoil, Talvor's family managed to escape though they lost all they had brought with them. Sadly, despite their escape, Talvor's younger Brother, Aldfryð, who was around one year old at the time, was lost in the skirmish when the wagon flipped into a ditch. Believing he was dead, the family fled and returned to their village on foot, in sorrow.
Eventually the family recovered from the loss, though they never forgot, and began to live normally once again. The bad blood between the people of Rohan and the Dunlendings grew fiercer in the hearts of Talvor's family, blaming them for the loss of Aldfryð. Years later things seemed to be going well, but reports of unrest and savagery had been heard whispered in the local tavern, as they so often did, though the frequency of these rumors escalated. Then suddenly one morning, smoke was seen rising over the green hills and an Uruk raiding party came rushing into the fields nearby. They began brutally attacking the neighboring farms, killing innocents. Many were slain in the attack, including Talvor's own family. His Father, his Mother, his Sister, and even his love lay lifeless in the fields, their bodies mangled and broken. Talvor was only nineteen when he witnessed their deaths. He battled along side Wilrrick - another man from the village who had served with Feodryð in the Cavalry during their younger days - until they managed to escape, along with a wounded child named Cynmearu whom they had found struck down in the road. She had only seen six winters by that time.
Helms Deep
The three split in sorrow, Wilrrick heading in a separate direction to shake off their pursuers, and eventually Talvor and little Cynmearu made their way to Helms Deep where, lacking any other purpose, he joined the Cavalry hoping to avenge his family. After proving himself as a worthy warrior, he was promoted to Sperewigend and dispatched to the Fords of the Isen to serve as a guardian of their homeland, a task Talvor took to with a burning passion. He spent many years in service there, fighting at times, and watching restlessly at others. There he met again with Wilrrick who had rejoined the Cavalry, even in his old age. Soon he was promoted to Bealdwigend for the performance of his duties. With the pay he received he found it easier to raise Cynmearu himself. Despite the danger, he was all that she had and he cared more for her than anyone or anything else. After some count of years, and one skirmish after another, Talvor was promoted again to Mægisterwigend.
The Færende Éored
It was eventually revealed to Talvor that new orders were being issued and that his Æthelwigend, Auerdan and fellow Mægisterwigendas, Kennia, and Rhinath were to lead their company into the lands to the north beyond Dunland in search of potential threats, and to chart the land. Because of the long journey ahead of them they became known as the Færende Éored, or the Færing Ástígend (Wandering Riders in the common tongue). After hearing this, many of the Riders raised objections, but eventually took to their new assignment with a will, understanding that the King himself wished it. Talvor now serves with honour as Mægisterwigend among the riders traveling north, and although he considers himself a warrior foremost, Talvor also serves as Bard among his kin, writing down the deeds of his company in poetic verse which he shares in song.
Talvor serves among his people, riding to battle with his spear held high.
He fights to regain the honor that was lost in the ash of his village and to protect his precious homeland.
