The Docks
The Docks of Pelargir
Situated at the strategic juncture of the Anduin River, Pelargir's docks are a bustling hub of activity and commerce. The docks stretch along the riverbank, lined with wooden piers and stone quays that jut into the water. Ships of various sizes, from sleek war galleys to sturdy merchant vessels, are moored here, their masts swaying gently with the tide.
Warehouses and shipyards line the waterfront, where the air is filled with the sounds of hammers on wood, the creak of cranes lifting cargo, and the shouts of sailors and dockworkers. Sturdy stone buildings, weathered by time and the elements, house the offices of merchants and captains, while open-air markets offer a variety of goods from exotic spices to local crafts.
The scent of saltwater mingles with the aromas of fresh fish, tar, and wood smoke. Fishermen haul in their daily catch, traders haggle over prices, and children dart between the legs of busy adults, adding to the vibrant tapestry of life.
In the distance, the imposing walls of Pelargir rise, providing a sense of security and protection to the bustling port. The docks are not only a center of trade but also a vital military outpost, with Gondorian warships ready to defend against any threat from the sea, especially the dreaded Corsairs of Umbar.
