14th Annual Grand Elven Ball Menu



As the tradition has it, we have specialities from many Elven areas; Lindon, Lothlórien and of course only the best local treats from Imladris. The food is cooked by Telpenaro of Nargothrond, a passionate farmer and a chef.

Guests will find a selection of food on the tables, free for them to take.

 

Welcome Cup

 

 ⚜ Celebrimbor's forge: Apple cider, lemon, ginger, cinnamon and rum, served hot.

 

Appetizers

 

 ⚜ Bread, spreads and cheese: Fresh, still warm selection of bread from the oven. Butter, herbed sour cream, paté, thin cuts of venison and cheese for topping choices.


 ⚜ Salmon roses: Salt cured fresh salmon, partially dyed with beet juice, cut into thin slices and set into a floral shape. Laid on soft pieces of bread with pearly seaweed and basil, along with horseradish whipped cream.


 ⚜ Oysters of Lindon: Oysters imported from the divers of Lindon, brought alive to Rivendell with a great care.

 

 ⚜ Chicken skewers: Small grilled chicken strips with onion, cumin and coriander.

 

 ⚜ Sausage: Choice cuts of meat prepared into flavourful sausages according to the recipe of Hír Daegond.

 

 ⚜ Soup: Smooth red vegetable soup with tomatoes, barley, celery, oregano and cream.

 

Main Course

 

 ⚜ Meat: Slowly roasted pinwheel rolls wrapped in a pastry. Either venison with rosemary, juniper berries and spinach, or boar with cumin, sage and cheese.


 ⚜ Fish: Cod fried crispy, juicy and golden with bread crumbs. Seasoned with saffron and dill, served with lemon wedges.


 ⚜ Shellfish: Grilled skewers with large prawns, brushed with butter, sea salt and tarragon.


 ⚜ Poultry: Roasted duck with a sweet sauce made of honey, pepper and savory.


 ⚜ Vegetables: Mushroom pie with penny buns and horns of plenty, seasoned with thyme and pepper.

 

Side Dishes

 

 ⚜ Salad: Fresh green salad with fennel, parsley, pear, cucumber, marjoram and mint.


 ⚜ Creamy salad dressing: Sour cream and mayonnaise based dressing with chives, onion, sea salt and pepper.


 ⚜ Century fish sauce: A sauce made out of fermented fish, herbs and wine.


 ⚜ Fruit: Selection of fresh fruit from Telpenaro's greenhouse, including melon wedges.


 ⚜ Aromatic vegetable casseroles: Smooth carrot casserole with cream and rice, another one made of caramelized potato. Both are spiced with nutmeg.

 

Drinks

 

 ⚜ Dorwinion and wine: From Limael's vinyard with Sogadan's assistance.

 ⚜ Ale: A selection of ales from the Shire and Thorin's Hall.

 

Dessert


 ⚜ Rosewater bites: Powdered confections made of finest rosewater, set in delightfully rose coloured marmalade pieces.

 ⚜ Whipped white wine custard: Airy custard made of white wine from the Fanyamar estate. Served with fresh fruit and crushed cookies.

On a giant three-tier cake tray stands a creamy and swirly cheesecake with a buttery biscuit base, draped with a stream of flowing caramel. The swirls are made of cloudberries, an elusive fruit with a surprisingly rich taste. In a way this cake has “golden” written all over it.
