Journal of Khalis Imieran entry 32
I am now rested after returning from Ephel Duath in the far south, the memories of that time will be ingrained in the foremost of my memory for some time. Much like the other battles I have been part of through the two ages I have lived in Middle Earth. I still find it most odd how it is these moments of battle that linger most in my memory when others were lost to me after I fell in Eregion when we fled from there to Imladris under the banner of Lord Elrond. I know those I travelled to the Black Gates with and beyond are still haunted by their own memories.
I found myself wandering into the Hall of Fire this day and the faces that greeted me did so with surprise. There were two or three from Bar En Vanimar who I usually see about Imladris attending the weekly gathering but most worthy of note was a few elleth and one of menkind unknown to me.
The woman who seemed to be a traveller of roads bore the seven pointed star most often see in the north. She looked a bit thin, perhaps underfed and she seemed intent on selling trinkets which amused me. She did however possess a helm she had found on her travels which was worn at the Battle of Celebrant. I bought it from her for a small amount of silver; men-kind put too much value into these small silver coins. It will make a fine gift for a friend once I have taken it to a friend for some remedial work. Oddly this woman did not offer up her name, but I was informed they were staying in one of the guest rooms. I believe there is more to her story than we are aware.
I was joined by the Lady Elisbeth and not long after by Yrill who had come to our company in the last few months after leaving Bar En Vanimar. She is a maethor of some repute from what I know of her and she possesses a sharp mind and perception. Her approach to joining our company was done so with confidence and she is a welcome addition. Still despite her experience and reputation she will still require testing before she can join the ranks of the Maethor, Leutha.
Yrill did bring word that she has just returned from the western shore after visiting Lady Danel there. I noted that despite her words she had had time to change attire and wash before joining the company gathering this day. She informed us that the Lady Danel had not sailed to the west as we had thought she might do and that it was her grandmother who had made the crossing. Lady Danel from what Yrill informed us seemed consumed with matters which led to her grandmother becoming ill which led to her decision to sail west. It was agreed that we should speak with the Lady Danel in person and see what evidence there is to be found on the concerns she has raised with Yrill. Then we can present the information to Hir Nystal and a decision can be made.
I was also reminded of the sterner side of the Lady Elisbeth today, for at one stage we were approached by an young ellon have come to know who seems more inquisitive than most. I hope he did not feel too chastised by her words, perhaps I should speak with him at the next opportunity. I have felt the displeasure of her tone myself in the past for my favourable views on men-kind. But her words have often proved right and mine wrong thus I consider her council most valuable. The encounter brought to mind the time Daegond of the Hammers of House Vanimar did offer to bury those that had offended her once. The worry part was he offered to have them alive when he did so…………
