Background

The sun was shining on Lothlorién, protecting this beautiful and green city from the darkness. This city was in among huge mountains where the falls, and the trees were dancing with the breeze. A young man with shiny armor was walking on the ground, a bow and lots of arrows on his back, and a sword held by his belt. His long black hair was touched by the wind, they were flying like birds around his head. His blue hues was one with the sky, everything he looked at would just smile, literally. While he was on the move, he could see a young beautiful woman with blonde hair, and a armour set with bow and arrows. He got closer to the woman, bowed to her: “Mae govannen, İsilmë.” he got closer to her with a couple of steps, he could feel her breath, as a smile was appearing on his face, he held her chin gently: “Raew róvain! Han gwistaen alui an aenad. Raew i nidh raeda na lui. (Fairest smile! I would never change it for anything. Smile that makes me smile at times.)” now he was whispering, “ Gi Melin. (I love you.)” then he pecked her on the lips, looking at her eyes.

This love of him, was not going to stay strong, as they were sent to a mission to find an elvish boy who got kidnapped while playing in the forest near Lothlorién. The group’s leader was Arfaron’s -the pratogonist- father. This mission was going to make him decide about living or dying, about being a leader or being a coward. As they were leaving Lothlorién, Arfaron couldn’t take his eyes off of her, even riding a horse, going for a mission. His father could see what Arfaron was wanting, he would just smile, shaking his head, and concentration on the mission. After a while passed, while they were still riding their horses, a horn was heard. Then, hundreds of Uruk-hai’s were seen, coming to them. With Arfaron’s father’s order, every one prepared for fight. In the fight, Arfaron’s beloved was ambushed by three, and before he could reach to her, he watched her getting killed by those Uruk-hai’s. Everything was in slow motion for him, his friends were dying, he was dying, and he had to do something, as his tears were falling upon his cheeks: “(S) No! No!”, he couldn’t even breath, “(S) this cannot be happening!”. A few more tears dropped on his cheeks, and he fell on the ground, unconscious.

When he could get himself together, he unsheated his sword, and attacked whoever came in front of him. He was killing Uruk-hai’s one by one with the hatred he had, now. As he stopped fighting, he was looking around to see his father but all he could see dead bodies, and blood all over the place. Just a few soldiers was up, but none of them was his father. He searched for the bodies, and found his father, and his beloved was laying next to each other, and all he could see was blood, and a white rose which a part of it was bloodstained. This white rose was a gift of Arfaron as a promise of marriage. He fell on his knees, putting his sword next to him, on the ground. Then, he put his hands on his legs, started crying for his father, and his beloved: “Amman? Amman ni cillen aph-feled i naeras hen? (Why? Why was I chosen to feel this sadness and sorrow?)” With teary eyes, he looked at the sky and cried.

None heard from Arfaron for a long while, as he left the battlefield to live with his pain and sorrow, he was thinking he was nothing but a dead elf who could do nothing to save his loved ones. This pain and sorrow affected his mind and his soul, the grief was not bearable anymore. As he unsheated his sword, he looked up to the sky: “Davo hîdh hired vin gurth ethin, a davo ieniad annin anuir. (Let them find peace in death, and let me join them once and for all.)” He got his sword ready, but the sun did not let him do it by shining upon his eyes full of darkness. He coul feel the warmth, and the power of sun again on his skin.

After his return to Rivendell, Ornessar, the High-Lieutenant of Rivendell, got promoted, and Arfaron was promoted to be the new High-Lieutenant of Rivendell from now on. He was following the orders, as he promised himself to protect the realm he was living until the last drop of his blood. He got his bow, and daggers ready, and left for his next mission, in Rivendell.
