16th Annual Grand Elven Ball Menu



As the tradition has it, we have specialities from many Elven areas; Lindon, Lothlórien and of course only the best local treats from Imladris. The food is cooked by Telpenaro of Nargothrond, a passionate farmer and a chef.

Guests will find a selection of food on the tables, free for them to take.

 

Welcome Cup

 

 ⚜ Light mulled wine of the North: Made with white wine, apple juice, cinnamon, clove, ginger and lemon zest. Sprinkled with almonds and raisins.

 

Appetizers

 

 ⚜ Bread, spreads and cheese: Fresh, still warm selection of bread from the oven. Butter, herbed sour cream, paté, thin cuts of venison and a large variety of cheese for topping choices.


 ⚜ Snails with herbal butter: Baked large snails in a shell, served with parsley, shallot and garlic butter.


 ⚜ Oysters of Lindon: Oysters imported from the divers of Lindon, brought alive to Rivendell with a great care.

 

 ⚜ Stuffed flatbread: Filled with lettuce, chicken thighs, onions, herb sauce, tomatoes and lemon juice.

 

 ⚜ Sausage: Choice cuts of meat prepared into flavourful sausages according to the recipe of Hír Daegond.

 

 ⚜ Soup: A tomato soup with onion, pepper and basil.

 

Main Course

 

 ⚜ Meat: Slow roasted venison, marinated with red wine, juniper berries and rosemary. Grilled boar ribs with pepper, onion and mustard.


 ⚜ Fish: Baked salmon steaks with dill, tarragon and cheese.


 ⚜ Shellfish: Grilled brown crab with dill and lemon mayonnaise.


 ⚜ Poultry: Roasted and stuffed duck with scallions, apples, garlic and anise.

 

 ⚜ Mushroom pie: Made with matsutake, brittlegill and truffles.

 

Side Dishes

 

 ⚜ Salad: Fresh salad with pear, peppermint, celery and watercress.


 ⚜ Vinaigrette sauce: With oil, vinegar, salt and pink pepper.


 ⚜ Roasted hazelnuts: With sea salt and honey.


 ⚜ Fruit: Selection of fresh fruit from Telpenaro's greenhouse, including melon wedges.

 

 ⚜ Vegetable and pasta gratin: Pasta, tomatoes, sugar peas, and carrots baked with Bechamel sauce and cheese.

 

Drinks

 

 ⚜ Wine: From Limael's and Dorwinion vinyards, as well as the Fanyamar Estate – including sparkling wine.

 

 ⚜ Ale: A selection of ales from the Shire and Thorin's Hall.

 ⚜ Almond meringue cookies: Colourful filled cookies, in many flavours.

 

 ⚜ Lemon mousse: Whipped with eggs, cream, lemon juice and zest.
 

 ⚜ Giant cake: Lisseturu

Lisseturu

This giant cake roll resembling a log with branches over a patch of waterlilies is made of soft sheets of cake. It's filled with plenty of creamy meringue buttercream, hazelnut and vánillë. The bark is encrusted with crispy cookie strips, tasting like hazelnuts and caramel. Finally, the waterlilies are almond paste.
