Memories of the past - She-elf

Cynraede stood quietly, his hood pulled back to reveal his rather rough image. A warbraid, decorated with a warg tail that hung down several inches below his jaw. His beard, rough and coarse, but drawn together and tied with a thin strip of leather just below his chin. His face was dirty, seemingly fresh from the field but clearly embarrassed by his pressence. First, it was the maiden whom witnessed him so, dirty and unclean before such women. Even now, he stood before an elf, something he had not done in his lifetime.

She peered at him with soft eyes, that passed no judgment or scorn. They studied the young hunter for several moments as he stood still, not daring to move as she walked around him. Finally speaking up and letting her voice fill the room.

"My people have told me much about you, young hunter. They tell me you killed three bear and made a blanket from their pelts, for one of our own. Yet, I was told you would not accept payment for your task, and I do wish to know why."

Cynraede stood there as if all life had left his body, only his chest moved as he breathed silently. He lowered his head and closed his eyes, beginning to speak.

"There was the man, Wulfthred. He mentioned he is of an order as he dined, then we were joined  by another. She bore a brooch upon her, the same as Wulfthred, bearing seven stars upon it. I wished not for coin, or any material thing, I wish to learn of this order. What I say might sound strange, coming from a man who you do not know."

"I know of you Cynraede. I know that you are no hunter of beasts of nature, nor are you a sellsword. All will reveal itself with time. What is done in the shadow, will surely come to light."

The young hunter continued to stand still with his head lowered with his hands at his sides.

"Patience young hunter, something I am sure you know of. Only time, will reveal some things. For now, I have a task for you. The emporium is in need of hides, of any sort or kind. I wished to offer the task to you."

Cynraede raised his head slightly, looking to the she-elf before him. He offered a slight bow.

"I would be honored, to take up this task. Though I have one.."

He tried to find the word, yet could not find it in his mind.

"Condition."

The elf raised a brow, looking to him slightly surprised.

"I wish to know more of this Order.. That is all I ask."

The she-elf smiled, her brow still raised at the man. She nodded once before speaking, observing him as she did.

"Very well. We will see if you are worthy of such."

She walked out of the small building, the door shutting quietly behind her.

Cynraede stood quietly, looking to the door as he picked up his gear and headed for the same door. The fresh air filled his lungs as he walked out and made his way to the gate. He thought to himself as he walked, his mind filling with questions, racing with thoughts of this mysterious order.
