Safeguard the North

"[...] Our days have darkened, and we have dwindled [...] Lonely men are we, Rangers of the wild [...] But when dark things come from the houseless hills, or creep from sunless woods, they fly from us. What roads would any dare to tread, what safety would there be in quiet lands, or in the homes of simple men at night, if the Dúnedain were asleep, or were all gone into the grave?"

Event details:
Tired of seeing hooded Ranger 'types' loitering in the tavern, with no purpose?
Our goal is to rally all of the scattered Rangers and to focus their efforts on safeguarding the north by removing them from the Prancing Pony, and other areas of idleness, and placing them back where they belong: in the wild!
Various excursions into the wilderness of the North shall be launched from all existing places of refuge, to fulfil the duties of the 'Watchers'; and to achieve this a hidden community shall be created, operating across the land, being as active or inactive as the members desire. These duties entail:
Keeping the peace in the wild, only.
They are woodsmen and wanderers who watch the borders of the North. The internal troubles of towns are left to the Guards to solve, for Rangers are not policemen of townsfolk, contrary to popular belief. If the people are threatened externally, a Ranger's hand can be forced; but discretion is their watchword, and the wilderness of Arnor is their only rightful jurisdiction. No bravado is required here, nor any false sense of superiority. There is respect and disrespect to Rangers all across the land, in equal measure. We hope to keep it so!
Path-finding.
To find and protect the old paths in the wild; ensuring the secrets of the land remain hid; and to guide other wayward pilgrims, who may be caught unwares in the net of hills and forests, back to the nearest road or settlement.
Heritage.
The real identity of the Rangers remains ambiguous at best to nearly all whom happen across them, save those who are wiser to their existence; chief of these are the Elves of Rivendell. This obscurity extends especially to the Ranger's Chieftain. To openly discuss their heritage as one of the Men of the West, particularly in public places of middle-men, is uncharacteristic and most unwise. To do so is to undo all their need for discretion, and diminishes the front put against The Enemy's prying spies, who have yet to learn the forgotten Sons of Númenor and the Rangers are one and the same.
It is in their interest to ensure the lore of their land and dwindled people stays alive but hidden from all others who are not proven allies. If foolishly asked if they are one of the Dúnedain, beyond safe refuges, it is hoped ambiguity or denial will be their reflex. And for those who already suspect their nature; it is needless, then, to be asked.
Make the middle-men believe the Dúnedain of the North are a myth, and you will have succeeded. Have them uttering the names of their wild dwellings, Chieftain, and peoples, in taverns across the land, and you will have failed.
OOC details:
Any and all who role-play as one of the northern Dúnedain are welcome, although sadly our numbers cannot be too great for reasons of lore. It has to be emphasised that strictly no other races, or any others of different origins, are allowed. Should you choose to create a character specific to this endevour then it is hoped he/she should be dark haired, grey eyed and have their character origins as one of the Dúnedain of the north.
A private channel has been set up, establishing a tight community, which discusses ideas and news amongst ourselves on a server-wide level. It is also a place to organise spontaneous role-play, with the occassional rallying to set up 'special' events. Such Ranger events raise the awareness of our existance, and therefore we welcome any and all who seek us out in the wild places, if we have not found you first.
Though we shall be organised when necessary it is important to create the illusion we are a widely scattered folk; lone, duo or small group roleplaying is at the heart of what we do, in line with the Ranger's lifestyle, so it is heavily encouraged!
There is no demand in commitment of time or effort, and it will not encroach or conflict with your free time enjoying the game, nor any duties you may have with your kinships, if you do not wish it: it's purely for fun!
If you wish to take part in this Roleplaying movement or share your ideas then contact Amlarad or Trevadron in-game, via tell or mail, or send us a message on here!
Farad vaer, Dúnadan.
